Social EnterpriseGive A Goat runs on the goal of helping others. Goats provide a micro business for the recipient that allows for a stable source of income. This income allows the recipient to pay for healthy food and education. Due to the fact that our goats allow the recipient to own a micro business, they also teach the recipient valuable business and life skills, while also supporting them financially.

Micro Business |
By giving a kid a goat, we allow for a lucrative micro business to be born. Goats provide milk that can be harvested, and then sold for a profit. On average, goats produce 6-10 cups of milk per day. This amount of milk can then be sold for around $1.00 per day. This a lucrative business considering that the average salary in Uganda is only $1 per day. The money that the recipients earn is used to pay for nourishing food, and proper education.

Pay it Forward |
Give A Goat is a 100% self-sustaining project. We accomplish this through our pay it forward plan. Before giving a child a goat they must sign a memorandum of understanding that states that they agree to participate our pay it forward plan. Our plan specifies that after the recipients goat gives birth to a litter, the kids must give at least one of those offspring to another child in need. The recipient of the new goat must also sign the memorandum of agreement to ensure that he or she will do the same. This ensures that the goats are still being given even without constant donations. This is also what separates Give A Goat from other organizations that simply give out handouts of money or food.

On The Ground |
Give a Goat partners with Global Village Connect in order to make sure goats are delivered to recipients and to be sure he impact is measured. We hire a project manager overseas for ground operations. Our project manager teaches the recipients how to properly take care of their goats, as well as organize and track the memorandum of understandings. We also receive updates such as photos as well as numbers from them, therefore, we can speak to people in Uganda about the on-going project. This allows us to keep close track of the real difference that our goats are making.
